The Mom Guilt We Don’t Talk About

The Mom Guilt We Don’t Talk About

♥ ♥ ♥

If you’re reading this while folding laundry, answering work emails, reheating your coffee for the third time, or trying to figure out what’s for dinner… this one’s for you.

Being a mom is beautiful, but it’s also exhausting.

Whether you work outside the home, work from home, or stay home full-time, there always seems to be a never-ending list of things that need your attention. The dishes pile up. The laundry basket somehow fills itself overnight. The house never stays clean for long. And just when you think you’ve caught up, someone needs a snack, a ride, a hug, or help finding the toy that disappeared five minutes ago.

Somewhere in the middle of trying to keep everyone else happy, we start asking ourselves the same question:

“Am I doing enough?”

Most moms carry around a heavy load of guilt.

We feel guilty for working because it takes time away from our kids.

We feel guilty when we play with our kids because the house isn’t clean.

We feel guilty when we need a few minutes to ourselves.

We feel guilty when we let them watch a movie or play on their iPads, because we’re simply exhausted.

It’s a cycle that never seems to end.

But here’s something I hope every mom hears today:

You are doing better than you think.

Your children don’t need a perfect mom.

They don’t need spotless floors, gourmet meals every night, or a Pinterest-worthy playroom.

They need someone who loves them.

They need hugs after a hard day.

They need bedtime stories, silly dances in the kitchen, and someone cheering them on.

Those little moments are what they’ll remember.

Even twenty minutes of uninterrupted play can mean more to a child than an entire afternoon spent together while we’re distracted by our phones or to-do lists.

Some of our favorite memories are made during the simplest moments:

✨A blanket fort in the living room.

✨Coloring together at the kitchen table.

✨A dance party before bedtime.

Those moments don’t have to cost a fortune or require elaborate planning💕
